    Renormalization of the EWCL and its Application to LEP2

    Full text link
    We perform a systematic one-loop renormalization on the electroweak chiral Lagrangian (EWCL) up to O(p4)O(p^4) operators and construct the renormalization group equations (RGE) for the anomalous couplings. We examine the impact of the triple gauge coupling (TGC) measurement from LEP2 to the uncertainty of the S−TS-T parameter at the Λ=1TeV\Lambda=1 TeV, and find that the uncertainty in the TGC measurements can shift S(Λ)S(\Lambda) at least 3.3σ3.3 \sigma.Comment: 4 pages, 1 eps figure, uses ws-ijmpa.cls.     Quasifinite representations of classical Lie subalgebras of W_{1+infty}

    We show that there are precisely two, up to conjugation, anti-involutions sigma_{\pm} of the algebra of differential operators on the circle preserving the principal gradation. We classify the irreducible quasifinite highest weight representations of the central extension \hat{D}^{\pm} of the Lie subalgebra of this algebra fixed by - sigma_{\pm}, and find the unitary ones. We realize them in terms of highest weight representations of the central extension of the Lie algebra of infinite matrices with finitely many non-zero diagonals over the truncated polynomial algebra C[u] / (u^{m+1}) and its classical Lie subalgebras of B, C and D types. Character formulas for positive primitive representations of \hat{D}^{\pm} (including all the unitary ones) are obtained. We also realize a class of primitive representations of \hat{D}^{\pm} in terms of free fields and establish a number of duality results between these primitive representations and finite-dimensional irreducible representations of finite-dimensional Lie groups and supergroups. We show that the vacuum module V_c of \hat{D}^+ carries a vertex algebra structure and establish a relationship between V_c for half-integral central charge c and W-algebras.Comment: Latex, 77 page

    The dynamic dipole polarizabilities of the Li atom and the Be+ ion

    Get PDF
    The dynamic dipole polarizabilities for the Li atom and the Be+ ion in the 2s and 2p states are calculated using the variational method with a Hylleraas basis. The present polarizabilities represent the definitive values in the non-relativistic limit. Corrections due to relativistic effects are also estimated. Analytic representations of the polarizabilities for frequency ranges encompassing the n=3 excitations are presented. The recommended polarizabilities for ^7Li and ^9Be+ were 164.11 \pm 0.03 a.u. and 24.489 \pm 0.004 a.u.

    Symmetric multiparty-controlled teleportation of an arbitrary two-particle entanglement

    Full text link
    We present a way for symmetric multiparty-controlled teleportation of an arbitrary two-particle entangled state based on Bell-basis measurements by using two Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states, i.e., a sender transmits an arbitrary two-particle entangled state to a distant receiver, an arbitrary one of the n+1n+1 agents via the control of the others in a network. It will be shown that the outcomes in the cases that nn is odd or it is even are different in principle as the receiver has to perform a controlled-not operation on his particles for reconstructing the original arbitrary entangled state in addition to some local unitary operations in the former. Also we discuss the applications of this controlled teleporation for quantum secret sharing of classical and quantum information. As all the instances can be used to carry useful information, its efficiency for qubits approaches the maximal value.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures; the revised version published in Physical Review A 72, 022338 (2005). Signature of a universal statistical description for drift-wave plasma turbulence

    Get PDF
    This Letter provides a theoretical interpretation of numerically generated probability density functions (PDFs) of intermittent plasma transport events. Specifically, nonlinear gyrokinetic simulations of ion-temperature-gradient turbulence produce time series of heat flux which exhibit manifestly non-Gaussian PDFs with enhanced tails. It is demonstrated that, after the removal of autocorrelations, the numerical PDFs can be matched with predictions from a fluid theoretical setup, based on the instanton method. This result points to a universality in the modeling of intermittent stochastic process, offering predictive capability.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
